This Privacy Policy explains how Bands.com (“Bands.com,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Sumerian Entertainment Group, collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Bands.com website and mobile app (together, the “Service”). The Bands.com app is a mobile version of the Bands.com website and is governed by this same policy.

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information. When you create an account or sign in, we collect your email address, a username, and a password. You may also choose to provide your name.
  • Newsletter and waitlist sign-ups. If you sign up for updates, we collect your email address.
  • Purchases. When you rent or buy a title, your payment is processed by our video platform provider (Vimeo OTT). We receive a record of your transaction (such as the title purchased and the date), but we do not receive or store your full payment card details.
  • Communications. If you contact us, we keep your messages and contact details so we can respond.

Information we collect automatically

  • Usage and device data. As you use the Service we collect information such as the pages and videos you view, the time and date of your visits, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser type, and similar technical information.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure usage, and (on free, ad-supported videos) deliver and measure advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Service works.

Information we do not collect through the app

The Bands.com app does not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos, or your health data.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including signing you in and remembering where you left off;
  • process rentals and purchases through our video platform provider;
  • send you emails you have asked to receive, and respond to your messages;
  • understand how the Service is used so we can improve it;
  • serve and measure advertising on free, ad-supported content;
  • protect the security and integrity of the Service; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

How information is shared

We share information with the service providers that help us run the Service, including:

  • Vimeo OTT (vhx.tv) — video hosting and playback, and processing of rentals and purchases;
  • Google Analytics — usage analytics;
  • HubSpot — email, forms, and customer relationship management;
  • Google advertising services (including Google Ad Manager) — advertising on free, ad-supported videos.

These providers may process your information on our behalf and, in some cases (such as advertising and analytics partners), as independent controllers under their own privacy policies.

We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect our rights, safety, or property or that of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some uses of advertising and analytics cookies may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” of personal information under certain state laws — see “Your choices and rights” below for how to opt out.

Your choices and rights

  • Marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.
  • Cookies and advertising. You can manage cookies in your browser and opt out of personalized advertising through tools such as the Google Ads Settings and industry opt-out pages.
  • Access, correction, and deletion. Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or California’s CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as long as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

International users

We are based in the United States and process information there. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
